ACTION FIGURES
is ready to roll in your city! A successful beachfront shoot in Huntington Beach, California brought together championship athletes (surfers CJ Hobgood and Danny Nichols, volleyball star Misty May and mountain biker Brian Lopes, artists Joshua Serafin and Crazy Al, musicians (sixatenine and the Reventlos) and bikini-clad beachgoers for a half hour of the most down-to-earth TV talk show in years.

Co-Host Rana Townend and Host Brent Weber
ACTION FIGURES is a live television celebration of the alluring southern California lifestyle. Imagine The Tonight Show but during the day, with beachfront flair. Our host sits behind a bar-style tiki desk, the set including casual chairs for guests. Basic beach adornments including beachgoers casually making up the audience on their blankets by the Pier Plaza in Huntington Beach. Volleyball action plays on behind the set, with surfers behind them as the ultimate active backdrop. Beneath bright blue skies in front of the white sands of Huntington Beach, California, your host, former CNN anchor Brent Weber, engages uniquely exceptional athlete.

Co-Host Rana Townend with the band The Revelentos
The guests and their stories focus on the inspirational and the unique; notorious guests need not apply. ACTION FIGURES is about the positive, upbeat if off-the-beaten-trail athletic tales that embody the modern California Dream. From mountain climbers to surfers to skateboarders and triathletes, these unique athletes delve into what makes the real action sports athlete tick. No so-called "action sports" program provides these athletes with such a forum.

The pavilion set - faced by a stadium style setting seats several hundred invited guests from the active sports community - with two definitive artistic locations to either side of the main interview area. To the south, the episodes' musical guests, a band or musical artist emblematic of the positive so-cal musical vibe - performs a soundtrack to the shows events, entertaining the audience during breaks and throughout the taping.

To the North of the main set, in front of the Plaza's "mosaic wall", you'll find our "artist in residence", where the day's visual guest, a painter, sculptor, photographer or the like plies his/her trade during the taping of the show, creating a unique piece of art commemorating each episode.

Artist Josh Serafin and co-host Rana Townend

And co-host Rana Townend, a long-time part of the action sports scene, brings the musicians and artists close to the audience with periodic interviews during the show. She will also be responsible for interacting with the audience, keeping them involved and will bring developing involvement throughout the evolution of the series.

Danny Nichols, Misty May and Brent Weber

Each episode features vignettes, including: the SURF FOR GENERATIONS SUPER HERO - an individual or group recognized for their environmental efforts; the SECRET SPOT video montage of a local action or adventure spot where athletes ply their trade - we will not divulge the location; CALIFORNIA POSTCARD, a video montage of an event in the southland, including the US Open of Surfing, AVP volleyball, Pacific Shoreline Triathlon, or the X-Games Experience at California Adventure. And more.

Pro Surfer CJ Hobgood and Artist Josh Serafin

The close of each show culminates in the convergence of the artist, guests and musicians front and center, as the artist presents his/her artwork, later to be auctioned off on the internet with proceeds benefiting SURF FOR GENERATIONS. And each guest is presented with a ceremonial Surfing Monkey statue, the traditional gift from host Brent Weber.

ACTION FIGURES brings together the world's most active and diverse community of athletes, artists and musicians - the men and women who continue to make the California Dream endure.
