adornments including beachgoers casually making up the audience on
their blankets by the Pier Plaza in Huntington Beach. Volleyball
action plays on behind the set, with surfers behind them as the ultimate
active backdrop. Beneath bright blue skies in front of the white sands

The guests and their stories focus on the inspirational and the unique;
notorious guests need not apply. ACTION FIGURES is about the
positive, upbeat if off-the-beaten-trail athletic tales that embody
the modern California Dream. From mountain climbers to surfers to
skateboarders and triathletes, these unique athletes delve into what
makes the real action sports athlete tick. No so-called "action
sports" program provides these athletes with such a forum.

The
pavilion set - faced by a stadium style setting seats several hundred
invited guests from the active sports community - with two definitive
artistic locations to either side of the main interview area. To the
south, the episodes' musical guests, a band or musical artist emblematic
of the positive so-cal musical vibe - performs a soundtrack to the
shows events, entertaining the audience during breaks and throughout
the taping.
To
the North of the main set, in front of the Plaza's "mosaic
wall", you'll find our "artist in residence", where
the day's visual guest, a painter, sculptor, photographer or the like
plies his/her trade during the taping of the show, creating a unique
piece of art commemorating each episode.

efforts; the SECRET SPOT video montage of a local action
or adventure spot where athletes ply their trade - we will not divulge
the location; CALIFORNIA POSTCARD, a video montage of an

The
close of each show culminates in the convergence of the artist,
guests and musicians front and center, as the artist presents his/her

benefiting SURF FOR GENERATIONS. And each guest is presented
with a ceremonial Surfing Monkey statue, the traditional
gift from host Brent Weber.
