When Brent Weber graduated from Georgia State University, many heard
hear him say: I'm never coming back to the classroom! Well, never
say never. Weber, whose father was a renowned teacher and public speaker
in the computer industry, found there is great pleasure in teaching
- and learning - as he raised his daughter Nicole.
In working with interns at the various stations where he plied his
broadcast trade, and later lecturing and addressing large groups at
the college level, he began to find he has a knack for teaching
the finer - and looser - points of the broadcast industry.
Now in his 8th year teaching continuously in the secondary and/or
post-secondary areas, Weber serves on the staff at the Orange County
High School for the Arts, Irvine High School, Sportscaster's Camps
of America and Del
Mar Media Arts. Frequently found lecturing on college campus
throughout the Southern California area, he is a regular part-time
instructor at Chapman University, which is blossoming into one of
the Film industries top Film schools with the groundbreaking of Chapman
Studios.
With his
background in news and sports, Weber of course teaches broadcast skills
and production related classes, but has also helped develop curriculum
for advanced videography, linear and non-linear editing, scriptwriting
and entertainment reporting.
